An Update on our Kenjutsu/Bojutsu

Me and my dad have both been thinking and we haven’t been enjoying our lessons with our current sensei as we have some suspicions and overall it wasn’t what we wanted to learn in the first place. So after having some conversations, we decided to look elsewhere. Me and my dad both watch the same YouTuber called Shogo and he has just opened an online course with Seki sensei so we reached out to him to explain our predicament. In this blog, we will go over what we have planned for the future and what we are going to do at home.

The Lessons:

After we reached out to Shogo he said that both me and my dad could share one license as we are both in the same house and we both wanted to learn. We have had a look at the lessons and what they will be teaching is exactly what we are interested in studying. The lessons are online and done by a Japanese dojo that is based in Japan, the English translation is done by Shogo-san himself so I am super excited to start, and we are looking into starting soon.

What we are Going to do at home:

In a recent blog(link to the resolutions blog) my dad both mentioned plans to improve our lives or try to get our lives back, work has played a significant role in delaying my dad’s plans and so have I. In an attempt to get our lives back, we have both come up with a plan to improve our lives and rely on each other with a habit contract(explained in the resolutions blog). We are going to be practising and studying the martial arts we are interested in in both our spare time and in our lessons.

A Big Event:

The same dojo that we are going to be doing the lessons with they are also holding an event in Japan where you get to train with the sensei in their dojos for 3 days straight. This would involve me and my dad travelling to Japan (for the first time) and staying in Japan. It would truly be a great experience and we already have permission from my Mum to go to Japan, so we may be going after all.
